A video documentary by Dr. Delores M. Walters

The remarkable story of the women who run the Maternal and Child Health Center in their coastal community in Yemen.  The Murshidat have revolutionized health care and social relations between African-identified groups and the Arab majority in this Muslim country

Video Length: 35 minutes; original in Arabic

Female primary health care workers called “Murshidat” with minimal health training provide basic health services for women and children including malaria treatment, delivery of babies and pre, and post-partum services. In addition, these women are breaking down social barriers by including African-identified Yemenis who have long been stigmatized and remain the most marginalized members of the society.
